MIRACLE MILE—Now on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) through October 1st, Unexpected Light showcases the works of Korean-American artist Young Il Ahn.

Ahn, born in 1934 in Gaesong, North Korea, is the first ever Korean-American artist to have his work showcased at the museum.

The exhibition includes Ahn’s most recent work, as well as a large selection from his “Water” series, which marked an increasingly abstract shift in style for the artist following his 1983 near-death experience in the Pacific Ocean.
